October 18 What a WeekIt has definitely been a long week. Here is a quick recap of what I've been up to. SCHOOL!!!
Dodgers =(
Work...
Fresno State Football
Bullpups To round out the week, I got to take the boys to Isaac's soccer game this morning. If you can believe it Isaac was the bully of the kids. Not because he was trying, but he plays soccer more like rugby. Pushing, grabbing, and whatever it takes to get at the ball. One mother even told her son to push Isaac as retribution for his tough play. Upon him pushing Isaac down he turned to the audience and said, "I pushed him back Mom!" I laughed pretty hard. Isaac scored 3 goals, and Bullpups cruised to an easy 10-5 win. Apparently they lost last week because the other team had an Uber soccer player (I was not there to comfirm). But I will post some footage in next couple of days showing off some of Isaac's mad skills. October 07 Dodgers moving on to NLCS
Dodgers moving on to National League Championship Series against the Phillies. When the Dodgers traded for Manny Ramirez I was pretty sure they would improve their offence enough to be a threat, but it took the team awhile to get in a groove before they started their newly found winning ways. Now they are four wins away from a World Series appearance. Games our televised on FOX so will be able to watch them this go around. Both teams swept the other during regular season, but both have made improvements to their teams. Series doesn't start til Friday though, so the waiting begins. October 06 Isaac leads bullpups to 3-0Bullpups are now 3-0, winning roughly 25-7 (I wasn't there to keep score but that is about what my wife described). Isaac has become an offensive terror, scoring 20 goals! As you can see in these pictures Isaac controlled the ball, and the other kids just couldn't keep up with his greatness. I will miss next weeks game as well, but will have Christina video tape game so we can get some live action. Goal, after Goal, after Goal, after Goal... Amazing! October 05 Fresno State WoesFresno lost 31-29 in over time to Hawaii. This is a game Fresno State not only should have won, but should have dominated handily. Yet, traditional Fresno State football style is to get up for the big games, and try and play through the games they should win. Now their season is reduced to the only grand accomplishment of going to Boise and winning a quality team in November. And once again, Fresno is left looking to next year. The game was clearly decided by two things, 6 turnovers by Fresno, and our field goal kicker Goessling inability to kick a field goals in pressure situations. Goessling had a big part in loss vs. Wisconsin, and in this game against Hawaii he missed to field goals in OT. Fresno was without our biggest play maker Ryan Matthews, but it shouldn't have mattered. Obviously the game was pretty disappointing, it made me not want to even show up for the Idaho game next week. But part of being a fan is supporting the team even when they are not on top. Fresno State does have a great program, and one of these years they just might actually put an entire season together. On a non-related football not, I did stand (you don't sit in the student section) next to a couple of Fresno State Legends. Steve Susdorf and Tommy Mendonca, two members of Championship baseball team. They were mobbed in the student section, which was fun to see. And leaving the stadium we ran into (Richard my boss actually bumped into him) mayor Alan Autry. Clearly picture was taken before Fresno fell into a 17 point deficit. Shot of Fresno Marching down field to score on a field goal attempt (Goessling did make field goals when the game wasn't on the line), and the only team that showed up for Fresno our Marching Band. October 01 MLB Playoffs
UPDATE 2: Dodgers won again, 10-3 this time. Mostly with small ball, but runs are runs. Now they just need to win one more to advance to the next round. UPDATE: WOOT! Dodgers won 7-2 over the cubs. I was watching the game on my lapotp in class on MLB.com gamecast. The Dodgers were down by two with the bases loaded, two outs, at that exact moment my marketing teacher tells me to put my laptop away so we can play Jeporady. . . Well they ended up hitting that grandslam, as well as three other homeruns. Good start to the post season.
The Dodgers are in the playoffs again, which I noticed starts today at 3:30PM. I am definitely taking my laptop to watch the game tracker during classes. They are playing the Cubs, whose "curse," should help us win the first series no problem. Or more than likely it will be the bat of Manny Ramirez, and our pitching staff that allowed the fewest amount of runs all year. Hawaii vs. Fresno State
VS
This Saturday Fresno State begins their conference play against Hawaii. Last Saturday Fresno defeated UCLA 36-31 in a somewhat impressive win. Hawaii is one of the teams that beat Fresno last year so that should help motivate the players to get there revenge. Will try and take some pictures this time with a real camera. There is a chance for rain, which should make the game more exciting, and the game is only on ESPN direct, which is too bad. Fresno moved up to the 22/21 spot in rankings which is great, and even better is Boise moving up to 17. Hopefully both teams are undefeated come their match up at end of the season. |
