April 28 The Dodger CurseThis past week I had the opportunity to travel to Thousand Oaks for some sweet training through Best Buy. After the training the other supervisors and myself headed over to Dodger Stadium to watch a game. We bought our tickets from some crazy crack head for only 25 dollars a ticket. After paying for an over priced Dodger dog and "large" soda, we headed to our seats just off the f It was a great night until the curse that I have had since I was younger reared its ugly head. The Dodgers are unable to win a baseball game if I am physically at the stadium. I've been to about 6 games throughout my life and have never experienced the thrill of cheering for a victory by the Dodgers. I didn't have a camera, so I took this picture with my cell phone. April 06 PLAY BALL!!!
This Saturday was Isaac's first ever baseball game. Probably the greatest joy as a dad is getting to live your childhood again through your kids. We went to sports authority and spent a bunch of money on gear Isaac didn't need, but have had a lot of fun using it to practice with before the game. If you've never seen a Tots League game before it is hard to describe. The kids don't really know what is happening and there are not really any rules governing how the game is played, other then that nobody gets out and you bat once an inning. Our cameras were having technical difficulties so we didn't get many pics and no video, but I'll try and get some footage before the end of the season. Speaking of season I'm not sure whether Isaac's team won or not, but I'm pretty sure I had Isaac at 6 for 6, 4 RBIs, and 6 runs. Sometimes life is just not fair, Isaac can be seen above ashamed of his new purple uniform (it was cold but I think he wanted to wear the coat to hide his shame.) The second picture is of me and Isaac trying to figure out if some of the kids on the "red" team were either A: on steroids, or B: not really 3 years old. Lets see some birth certificates people!!!
As already stated Isaac was a hitting machine, he loves hitting so much that he carried his bat around the bases with him. Not only can the kid hit, but he was probably the best glove on the field. I look for Isaac to be MVP of PC Tots league for sure. April 03 New ShoesCheck out these sweet new running shoes I bought today: I bought them at Sierra Running Club here in Fresno. The sales person had me walk around, and checked arch/stance to gauge what type of shoe would be right for an ogre like me. She recommended stability shoes, and since I have no idea that is, it is what I went for. This pair was the first I tried on and nothing else felt quite as good. I look forward to running tomorrow, and since I have new shoes will probably run 6 minute miles. Best part of the whole experience was that I asked how often a runner should replace their shoes. Every six months was the answer. I thought about it and then asked how many miles that was. Five hundred miles. . . . . I laughed and felt confident that I will not be needing new shoes every six months. April 01 Matt is a fool
This did indeed take place this morning, and thanks to Nole I can share it in the form of a comic strip. I don't think this was the first April fools that I fell for this inhumane gag either. |
